Pot Farm Raided in Topanga State Farm Worth $100 Million

Authorities discovered a 34,000 marijuana plant farm operation in Topanga State Park.

The park was raided on Friday May 11, 2012 and found a plastic lined earthen dam redirecting water from a creek to the cultivation site.

Officials destroyed an estimated $100-million worth of marijuana, mostly young plants about 1 to 2 feet tall.

Authorities also removed more than 500 pounds of paraphernalia and supplies left behind by pot farmers, including propane tanks, decaying batteries, fertilizer and pesticides that are banned in California.

The growing operation was divided into 13 plots distributed throughout the steep chaparral. It caused extensive damage to the soil, watershed, native plants and animals. It could take years for the environment to recover.

No arrests were made but three men were seen fleeing the scene.

Diamond Bar Home Marijuana Operation Busted

Authorities were led to a home in Diamond Bar due to an unusually high electricity meter reading.

When they arrived, sheriff investigators found and seized more than 1,000 marijuana plants.

The operation was shut down and two men were arrested.

Daughter of Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood Arrested

The daughter of actor Robert Wagner and actress Natalie Wood, Courtney Wagner, 38, was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession after a reported shooting in Malibu.

When deputies received a call for a shooting in a residence in Malibu they found Wagner and Matthew Cox, 24 in the residence.

They found several handguns and several baggies of what appeared to be drugs.

A short time later, Cox was arrested on suspicion of negligently discharging a firearm. Wagner was booked on suspicion of narcotics possession.

They were both released on bail.

Three Alleged Marijuana Smugglers Arrested

Los Angeles County lifeguards notified the sheriff's Malibu/Lost Hills Station about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday April 24, 2012 that they had spotted a suspicious boat about 50 feet off Latigo Beach.

Deputies confirmed that it was a panga boat and the air and marine unit arrested three men off the coast of Malibu suspected of smuggling marijuana from Mexico.

The suspects began tossing bales of marijuana overboard as they saw authorities approach.

The pot was valued at more than $1 million.

The suspects are being presented for prosecution on federal drug smuggling charges.

Secret Drug Smuggling Website Busted

A multi-agency, multi-country law enforcement investigation led to and successfully broke-up and shut down the "Farmer's Market" website.

The website was an international online drug trafficking organization which sold a wide variety of illegal narcotics to U.S. and international customers.

More than 3,000 customers in 50 states and 24 countries were partaking in the products sold. Eight people were arrested in connection with the criminal drug business.

Marc Willems, the ring leader and a resident of the Netherlands, was arrested in his home and charged as the lead defendant. Colombian authorities tracked down and arrested U.S. citizen Michael Evron who was in the process of fleeing the country before Bogota Police captured him. The remaining suspects, Jonathan Colbeck, Brian Colbeck, Ryan Rawls, Jonathan Dugan, George Matzek and Charles Bigras were apprehended at their respective homes in Iowa, Michigan, Georgia, New York, New Jersey and Florida.

All eight people face federal drug trafficking and money laundering charges.

81 Pounds of Cocaine Found in Vehicle

Federal agents had informed Whatcom County officers that a vehicle from California suspected of being used for drug crimes is in Whatcom County.

When deputies spotted the vehicle and tried to pull it over the driver insisted on driving which led to a car chase. The vehicle then struck a tree and two men got out and fled on foot.

The two men were caught and both were found to be in the United States illegally.

Damien Hernandez-Martinez, 22, was booked into Whatcom County Jail for attempting to elude and on an Immigration detainer. Jaime Hernandez-Hernandez, 29, was booked for methamphetamine possession and on an Immigration detainer.

The vehicle was turned into the Drug Enforcement Administration and a search revealed 81 pounds of cocaine; about $500,000 worth.

Man Arrested For Drug Trafficking Faces Life in Prison

John Philip Co, 41, of Richmond, British Columbia, was arrested late Wednesday March 28, 2012 as part a federal investigation into a Southern California operation that allegedly laundered millions of dollars for a Canada-based narcotics trafficking organization.

June Jie Zhang, 31, of Toronto was also arrested at a casino in Commerce as a part of the investigation.

The investigation began in February as a multiagency undercover investigation in which agents from Homeland Security Investigations posed as brokers for Mexican cocaine traffickers who sought out Co and Zhang.

The men allegedly sold marijuana and Ectasy in the U.S., then used those profits to buy cocaine for reselling in Canada at twice the American value.

On the day of the arrest, undercover authorities in Santa Ana and El Monte received two payments totaling $750,000 in exchange for cocaine, and Co was arrested waiting for 80 pounds of cocaine the agents sold them.

Co and Zhang allegedly laundered more than $15 million in drug profits in the last year.

The two are charged in a federal criminal complaint for conspiracy to distribute more than 37 kilograms of cocaine.

Both men face life in prison if convicted.

Long Beach Men Arrested on Suspicion of Marijuana Cultivation

Three men were arrested in Long Beach by Long Beach police officers on Thursday March 29, 2012 for running a marijuana growing operation.

Authorities were on the block searching for a felony suspect when they noticed a home that showed signs of marijuana cultivation.

The officers obtained a narcotics warrant and returned later on that evening to serve the warrant.

They found a marijuana-growing operation and what police believe to be peyote and an unknown fungus.

They also found a scorpion, three tarantulas and four boa constrictors.

It is disputed whether the three men live at the home. They were arrested and booked on a variety of drug charges.

About 45 minutes after police left, the house caught fire.

Investigation will continue.

No Drug Charges Filed Agaisnt El DeBarge

Undercover narcotics officers were conducting an investigation near White Oak Avenue and the 101 Freeway early Monday March 19, 2012 when they spotted singer El DeBarge and another man acting suspiciously.

Officers recovered narcotics from an area where DeBarge had been standing, but due to insufficient evidence no charges will be filed against DeBarge.

230 Pounds of Cocaine Found Inside Tires

Border Patrol agents have seized 230 pounds of cocaine found inside the tires of a white Chevy truck near Imperial County . The cocaine was in 82 sealed packages.

The cocaine found was worth about $7.3 million.

Authorities searched the truck Sunday night at the California 86 checkpoint.

The seizure was the result of a routine inspection at the desert highway checkpoint.

The driver was a 25 year old male who was arrested on the spot.

Any amount of possession of cocaine is a felony offense. Depending on the amount one can face 2 to 4 years in prison. If the reason for possession is to sell, the sentence goes up to anywhere from 3 to 9 years in prison. Ricky James Brascom, 28, the ringleader of a drug ring, known as DP, was on the surface a rap music mogul and executive of Behind da Scenes Entertainment and his brother, Jerome Mondale "Bro-Bro" Brascom, 30, who acted as Ricky's top lieutenant in the ring's Baltimore operations, have both pled guilty to conspiracy.

Major Drug Bust of a National Drug-Trafficking Organization

A major bust of a national drug-trafficking organization revealed $100 million worth of PCP (phencyclidine) and roughly $400,000 in cash in the Los Angeles and Culver City area.

Officials found about 10 million individual doses which sell for $10-$20 each.

Official believe that at least 10 individuals are involved and that the PCP was getting distributed to Texas, New York and Washington, D.C., and other U.S. cities.

Two suspects, Darryl Dwayne Burton and Lagina Bell Huckaby, were arrested Wednesday at a UPS store in Culver City where they were allegedly trying to ship narcotics. The suspects were being trailed for abut a month.

They are being held in lieu of $3 million and $2 million bail,

Search warrants were then issued for two residences in South Los Angeles as well as two large storage facilities, where a drug ring was believed to be operating.

During the searches, authorities found 130 gallons of PCP, along with $389,000 in cash, two assault weapons and enough chemicals to produce 500 additional gallons of the narcotic.

27 Arrests During Drug Bust in San Francisco, CA

On Tuesday February 7, 2012, 27 people have been arrested and 33 people charged for selling crack cocaine and methamphetamine in East Palo Alto and Menlo Park in San Francisco, California.

Three Men Caught and Arrested For Smuggling 1500 Pounds of Marijuana

Three Mexican Nationals were arrested and a fourth suspect escaped when authorities searched an upscale beach area and discovered 1200-1500 pounds of marijuana from a Mexican Panga boat.

The boat was spotted off point Dume at about 1 a.m. on Saturday January 28, 2012.
