Couple Charged With Distributing Drugs

Nicholas L. Gilbert, 25, and Jalissa Waldoch, 22, both made their initial appearances from the Racine County Jail. Both were charged on Friday August 26, 2011 with distribution of large quantities of marijuana from their Caledonia home.

If convicted of all charges, and including additional penalties because of prior crimes, Gilbert faces a maximum sentence of 55 years and six months in prison or a $120,000 fine, or both. If convicted on all charges, Waldoch faces a maximum penalty of 39 years and six months in prison or a $120,000 fine, or both.
A search warrant based on purchases of controlled substances was executed at the residence of Gilbert and Waldoch on Wednesday August 24, 2011 by officers of the West Allis Police Department and the Racine County Metro Drug Unit, and agents of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

22 ounces of marijuana as well as plastic bags containing marijuana residue and consistent with the distribution of 34 to 35 pounds of the drug were found. The marijuana had been shipped from California to Caledonia.

Gilbert is charged with: being party to the crime of possessing 200 to 1,000 grams of marijuana with intent to deliver; conspiracy to possess more than 10,000 grams of marijuana with the intent to deliver; being party to the crime of possessing narcotics with intent to deliver,; and being party to the crime of maintaining a drug trafficking place.

Waldoch is charged with: being party to the crime of possessing 200 to 1,000 grams of marijuana with intent to deliver; conspiracy to possess more than 10,000 grams of marijuana with intent to deliver; being party to the possession of narcotics with intent to deliver; and being party to the crime of maintaining a drug trafficking place.

Their preliminary hearings, at which the state must prove that a crime probably was committed and that the defendant probably committed it, were scheduled for Thursday.
